2. What this tool is and is not

All tools on lichensclerosus.ai are educational tools providing biological framework information about lichen sclerosus. They are not medical devices, do not diagnose conditions, do not prescribe treatments, and do not replace professional medical assessment. Use of these tools does not establish a patient-provider relationship of any kind.

3. Data we do NOT collect automatically

Unless you explicitly provide it, we do not collect, store, or process:

Your name or email address
Your IP address beyond standard Cloudflare infrastructure logging
Cookies for tracking or advertising purposes
Any data that can identify you as an individual

4. Email address (opt-in only)

If you choose to subscribe to the Lichen Sclerosus Journal newsletter or create an account, we collect your email address for the following purposes:

Sending educational content about lichen sclerosus management
Notifying you of new articles, tools, and research updates
Occasional product and service announcements related to lichensclerosus.ai

Your email is stored securely via MailerLite (our email service provider). It is never sold to third parties. You can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.

5. Optional anonymous data storage (opt-in only)

If you choose to enable profile saving, the following data is stored anonymously on Cloudflare infrastructure:

A randomly generated UUID created in your browser — this is not linked to your identity in any way
Health-related information you voluntarily provide: current disease phase, treatment in use, products tested, symptom check-in responses
Timestamps of your sessions

This data is stored in Cloudflare's EU infrastructure. It is retained for 24 months from last activity, after which it is automatically deleted.

This feature is entirely optional. If you do not enable profile saving, no data is stored beyond your browser's localStorage, which never leaves your device.

6. Health data and legal basis

Health-related information is a special category of data under GDPR Article 9. We process this data only with your explicit consent, which you give when you choose to enable profile saving. You may withdraw this consent at any time by deleting your profile through the tool interface.

For users outside the EU: by using the optional profile saving feature, you consent to the processing of health-related information as described in this policy.

7. Product database contributions

When you analyze an ingredient list and choose to contribute the result to the shared product database, the following is stored:

The ingredient list (INCI) you submitted
The product name you provide (if any)
The analysis result
An anonymous session identifier

No personal information is attached to product contributions. Contributions are reviewed before being made visible in the shared database. You can request removal of a contribution by contacting us.

8. AI processing

Your queries are processed by Anthropic's Claude API. Anthropic processes data according to their own privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy. We do not send any identifying information to Anthropic — only the content of your query and relevant context.

9. Cloudflare infrastructure

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes standard network traffic data (IP addresses, request logs) as part of infrastructure operation. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to this processing: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

10. Your rights

Regardless of your location, you have the right to:

Access your stored data — use the profile section in the tool
Delete your stored data — use the "Delete my data" button in the profile section, or contact us
Withdraw consent at any time — disabling profile saving stops all future storage
Unsubscribe from email communications at any time via the link in any email
Data portability — contact us to receive an export of your stored data

11. Children

This tool is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
